Invitation to Participate – Health and Wellbeing in SMEs: a co-design approach to enhance productivity

SMEs face many challenges. A healthy and happy workforce can help to meet these and be more productive. This is the backdrop to research Brunel University London and Enterprise Wellness have been funded to undertake over the coming months.
The research, led by Dr Wendy Martin, Brunel University London, is funded by the Productivity Insights Network: https://productivityinsightsnetwork.co.uk

Purpose
The purpose of our research study is to:
• Explore barriers to enhancing health and wellbeing at work
• Identify and co-design solutions to improve and maintain a healthy workplace

Process
We are looking for owners, managers and/or representatives within SMEs (1-250 employees) to participate in our research study, by attending at least 2, preferably 3 co-design workshops.
The workshop dates are scheduled as below:
• Workshop 1: Tuesday 10th September 2019 – Brunel University London – 1-3.30 pm
• Workshop 2: Friday 20th September 2019 – Brunel University London – 1- 3.30 pm
• Workshop 3: Wednesday 2nd October 2019 – Brunel University London – 1-3.30 pm

Each workshop, lasting for around 2 hours, will take place in the local community and/or at Brunel University London. Refreshments will be provided.

We will focus on strategies and the organisation of health and wellbeing in SMEs. The workshops will consider:

• DISCOVERY: exploring the barriers and facilitators to health and wellbeing;
• DEFINE: defining the requirements and aspirations that any health and wellbeing interventions can fulfil
• DEVELOP: developing innovative solutions to enhance health and wellbeing

Outcomes
There will be a high-profile event in the autumn, focussing on DELIVERY, hosted by the Greater London Assembly’s Health Committee at City Hall at which we will disseminate findings and co-design solution.
The launch event will include all participating SMEs, academics, health and social care professionals and decision makers from the public and private sectors.

Interested?
Participation is entirely voluntary. If you decide to take part, you will be provided with a participant information sheet that explains more about the research.
