As part of a series of improvements to the Grand Union Canal running through Old Oak and Park Royal, OPDC is working with Canal & River Trust and Ealing Council to improve the access from Old Oak Lane to the towpath and to help make the surrounding area a more welcoming green space. Today, OPDC is launching an online public consultation and OPDC to invites you to find out more about the plans and share your views by completing an online feedback survey.
About the proposals
The towpath ramp from Old Oak Lane is currently rundown and unwelcoming, with the space around it underused by people and wildlife. OPDC’s plans for a new towpath ramp and surrounding area will:
. Be accessible to everyone, including pedestrians, cyclists, pushchairs and wheelchair users
. Enable natural habitats and wildlife to thrive
. Be opening and welcoming, encouraging people to use and enjoy the space
. Reflect and celebrate the area’s character, be in-keeping with the canal and use materials supplied by local businesses.
Consultation materials
OPDC is preparing early designs for improvements to the access, which we will be submitting as a planning application in September 2020. Before then, we’d like to hear your views to help to inform our planning application.
