The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) will be taking part in Open House London 2019 – 21st and 22nd September 2019 – for a second year. Last year over 450 visitors came to the area to attend walking tours, take part in activities and visit open buildings. You can watch the video of the highlights here. This year’s celebration of the area will enable you to visit some wonderful local places, join walks and also take part in family-friendly activities – all for free. Open buildings include Park Royal Fire Station, John Lewis Distribution Centre and the chapel at Wormwood Scrubs prison.
Open House London is the world’s largest architecture festival, giving the public free access to 800+ buildings, walks, talks and tours to buildings across London that are very rarely open to the public. As part of Open House London OPDC are celebrating what makes Old Oak and Park Royal a ‘Great Place, In the Making’ by uncovering, connecting and showcasing its unique culture, creativity and heritage.
The activity hubs are Old Oak Community Centre, The Collective and the Ace Café. There will also be canoeing on the Grand Union Canal. Specific activity times and locations can be found in the programme attached and you can register to attend walking tours here.
OPDC are partnering with ARTificaiton, the community rooted organisation based in Acton to deliver the creative activities that make up part of the ‘Exploring Old Oak and Park Royal’ programme.
