West London Business Awards 2018 winners announced – Everglade Windows claims West London Company of the Year title
On Thursday 1 February, over 410 guests from across West London descended upon Wembley Stadium to celebrate business excellence at The West London Business Awards 2018. Multi Paralympic gold medal winner Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson hosted the awards ceremony. Finalists represented all sectors including retail, construction, hospitality, technology and finance. Traditional crafts such as baking were represented, as well bleeding edge West London firms working on the frontiers of modern technology.
The big winners of the night were Everglade Windows, who scooped three awards including the prestigious title of West London Company of the Year 2018. The company turned the potential catastrophe of the last recession, when many window companies closed the shutters, into an opportunity – expanding market share, developing new products, investing in training, building a second factory.
The fifth year of the awards covered three themes: ‘Sector leadership’, ‘Sustainable & responsible business and ‘Economic growth’. Two new award categories were introduced this year: Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year & Start-up of the Year. The new categories, in addition to the existing awards, produced a highly competitive field of nominees, with twenty-three awards up for grabs in total – and the largest shortlist ever.
Other notable winners from the evening included Wembley’s O’Donovan Waste Disposal of Park Royal and the London Borough of Ealing food company Millennium foods who each claimed three awards at the ceremony.
Local groups The Dhol Company from Hammersmith and Fulham, Singology from Ealing, Alliance Dance Unit from Hounslow and DJ Rusty Egan entertained guests throughout the evening. The awards also helped raise funds for the official charity of the 2018 awards, The Children’s Air Ambulance.
Awards host Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, said:
“Very well done to Everglade Windows, and to all our winners tonight. Indeed to everyone who made it to the shortlist. There’s some fabulous business talent here in West London and it’s been a privilege to host this award ceremony recognising you all.”
Jay Patel, Sales & Marketing Director of Everglade Windows, said:
“Everglade Windows are very proud to have won three prestigious awards at the West London Business Awards 2018! Being a finalist among such a huge and diverse business community is an honour in itself, so taking home a hat-trick of trophies including the overall Company of the Year was a great start to 2018 and an enormous privilege. We are a family-owned, family-run business that has worked hard since 1980 to build a strong, reputable and customer-focused company, and this recognition is testament to all the hard work that has been done by our passionate team over recent years. Our commitment to growing in our community and serving our customers with the best quality, highly-engineered windows and doors remains strong, and we have many exciting projects, products and investments planned for 2018 and beyond.”
Andrew Dakers, Chief Executive of West London Business and a member of the judging panel said of the winners:
“We were hugely impressed with the standard of entries we saw in this fifth year of the awards. Our finalists give us evidence for hope in the future we are building; evidence that entrepreneurs will step outside comfort zones, seek out unsuspected secrets as to how the world works and respond by bringing alive new products and services.”
