The food and drink manufacturing sector in West London is evolving at pace. Advances in automation, tightening regulations, and shifting consumer expectations are reshaping the skills employers need — particularly in engineering and maintenance roles that keep production moving safely and efficiently.
In response to this growing demand, Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC) is proud to deliver the Level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship, developed in close collaboration with employers, industry experts, and skills leaders. The programme is designed to equip learners with the practical, technical, and future focused capabilities required to thrive in modern food and drink manufacturing environment.
Whether businesses are looking to recruit new talent or develop their current teams, the Level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship offers a practical, industry-aligned solution to tackling skills gaps and supporting long-term growth.
A key strength of the apprenticeship is its close alignment with industry needs. Employers are central to shaping the curriculum, bringing real-world insight into the classroom through expert-led masterclasses, hands-on work experience, and live engineering and production challenges. This ensures apprentices develop relevant, job-ready skills from day one, while existing employees can upskill or reskill in line with emerging technologies.
The programme is further strengthened by support from the West London Institute of Technology (WLIoT) Food and Drink Innovation & Skills Hub.
Officially launched in June 2025. The hub provides access to specialist facilities, cutting-edge equipment, and innovation expertise, helping employers invest in their workforce and future-proof their operations.
